The Festival starts in Oatmeal, TX Friday night with a BBQ dinner served by the fine folks of Oatmeal and the Oatmeal Festival Pageant. Clickhere for pageant information and entry form. Saturday AM, a trail ride officially moves the festival to Bertram where festivities include a 5k race, a pet parade, the Grand Parade, music, arts & crafts, a food court, a variety of wacky games, and a dance Saturday night.
Transportation:
Drive to Bertram - head west on Highway 29 from I-35 or 183. For the race, parade, and cookoff, turn left at the light - these activities are in Downtown Bertram across from the train station. The arts and crafts, food court, and dance are to the north (take a right off 29 from Austin) at the Pavilion and fairgrounds just past the school. Food:
In addition to our local restaurants' fine fare, you can also feast Friday night on a BBQ supper in Oatmeal, TX and Saturday at our 'Food Court' at the pavilion following the parade. There will be a photo booth there to commemerate your trip to our 35th annual festival. Proceeds fund local scholarships as well as future Oatmeal Festivals. Interested in being a food vendor? Music:
The Saturday events will feature live music performances, see the music page for more information. Saturday night's dance will feature the music of 2012 Texas Music Awards Entertainer of the Year, and Female Vocalist of the Year, Pauline Reese! is from 9:03 to 12:03 and tickets are $8 each or $15 per couple; $2 discount with active Military ID. BYOB - Concessions will be available - the Bertram Volunteer Fire Department will man the concession stand and those proceeds will support the BVFD.
Games:
The Oatmeal Festival Games for adults and children begin at 1:03 and continue throughout the afternoon. The festival is known far and wide for its unique, fun and wacky games, which include Oatmeal Box Stacking, the Cow Chip Kick Off, Goat Pill Popping, Egg Toss, and other silly games. The 2012 Oatmeal Festival Washer Tournament will take place Saturday, September 1 at the entrance to the arts and crafts area by the Bertram Youth Riding Club Arena in Bertram.
Washer Pitching Registration will start at 11:33 and the tournament starts at 1:03.Entry fee is $25 per 2 person team. Click here for more information and rules.
